This message needs to get before the eyes and ears of people other than just us in the "choir" (those who already know, and and not voting for Trump).

Absolutely!!! Dear Frank: how can we ensure that the historic backstory and current real truth of Project 2025 is broadcast on a national scale? Are you familiar with the Maranatha movement (college campus ministry with church plants) of the 1970’s thru 1990’s? As a middle schooler, I unfortunately got involved in the org in Paducah, Ky (not sure why they settled there…Weiner’s wife was from Paducah but there was no four year college or university!) and to this day, I deeply regret being involved. The former leaders of that nationwide org (Robert Weiner: “reformed” Jew started the org) along with some of its former members are likely Project 2025 supporters, “evangelizers,” and monetary contributors. Although we no longer speak much to one another because of Trump’s negative & divisive impact on our country & family/friend relationships, I have two friends who are former Maranatha leaders. One is a retired lawyer who I thought would have had better judgment about Trump and his extremist proposals/policies. He was actually the one who emphatically said Trump was a demagogue — from the get-go and then reversed course to become a Trump follower. What you have shared is proof that the conservative (far right) church and state/govt should never be “married.” As Billy Graham pointed out long ago — it’s unhealthy and as we are seeing now, can be dangerous and destructive. Too bad Franklin refuses to listen to his father or you.

I was an ardent follower of your parents and L'Abri back in the 60's. I loved the book your mother wrote and had every book your father wrote. But - things changed for me once I heard a sermon on predestination. I thought that can't be right or kind. I'm an Aussie and after the 2nd Billy Grahame crusade here I could see what was happening. Becoming a teacher and getting married showed me just how crippling and suffocating evangelical beliefs were. A couple of years ago, I saw on Netflix 'The Family' about the reporter who joined it for a while and uncovered their aim for world dominance - it was scary because I knew that type of group. In fact, over the years, I've distanced myself from things like that. Thank you for the work you do.

Conservative Roman Catholicism is extreamists dangerous. We MUST stop these people!

As Francis Shaffer asked “How then should we live”. Should we live with whatever individual whim strikes us?

There’s a lot of fear and anxiety expressed here but no statement of alternative other than chaos. What is the value of a world where sex is a choice, gender is a choice and even life is a choice?

Perhaps there are many flaws with the conservative movement and perhaps project 2025 is extreme but then the alternative is Agenda 21 of the World Economic Forum….. equally radical as well as anti-human.

You have to do more than point at the other side and scream.

That’s why DEMOCRATS promote and advocate a democracy where voices on both sides of the aisle can be heard and respected. In the past and in recent history — Democrats have been willing to compromise. It’s a fact that Obama and Biden were willing to compromise with Republicans on the Affordable Care Act, for instance. To the point — that there are problems with the ACA now that are a result of those compromises. For instance when you move from one state to another — you can lose your ACA benefits because Republicans demanded that! And a more recent example is the immigration reform bill which Democrats compromised their beliefs/ideas on in order to pass changes at our southern border that would satisfy Republicans. But Republicans STILL REJECTED (despite the fact Republicans were on the immigration reform committee) and despite the fact it was the most conservative immigration reform proposal ever to come before Congress. And do you know the reason they rejected it? Clearly, it was not because it was not conservative enough. They rejected it because their KING (Donald J Trump) who is currently not a government leader TOLD THEM TO VOTE AGAINST IT. Republicans who were on that committee are furious at those who voted against the legislative proposal. This shows the ridiculous, absurd and dangerous power that one man has over their political party. Biden AND previous modern democratic presidents have never made such an outrageous request of Democrats in Congress/Senate or demanded them to vote a particular way. IF YOU SEARCH DILIGENTLY, you will find other examples. And, you will realize that we can achieve a balance in the political world that can lead to more positive & productive laws than counter productive and overly restrictive policies.

Still pointing to the other side and screaming.

It is awesome how well Democrats coordinate their fantasy narrative at all levels.

Meanwhile the folks in DC keep getting richer while the voters are getting poorer.

You are accusing us of doing exactly what Republicans do.

C'mon man..... Can't you do better than a middle school argument?

Good people understand that we can’t just live with whatever whim strikes us. We live in family groups and we live in communities in school and on teams and at work as adults, and we have obligations and responsibilities, but yes, generally people should be free to do as they please as long as they’re not hurting other people. That’s what freedom is all about! Conservative religious people don’t get to impose their agenda on everybody and control them.

Expand full comment

Freedom is not all about doing what you please just because it doesn't hurt anyone. "Hurt anyone" is subjective as we have seen lately in our society of victims. The subjectivity is highlighted by the use of the word "generally".

Families, communities, professions and society at large as well as transcendent values all place context on behavior and responsibilities are enforced through rules put in place at each level that take certain activities off the table in the common interest. Freedom is the ability of people to work out these rules and can only exist when everyone at least agrees on the transcendent values.

.... and there's the rub.

While conservatives are denounced for trying to impose their "agenda" on everybody, liberals demand that everyone conform to theirs without question or be vilified.

You do realize that everything is not black-and-white right? One can be against abortion and also against trying to control women. There is a patriarchy and a well documented systemic misogyny by many conservatives and many religious groups that wants to narrowly define The role of women and make it men who get to make those determinations and that is completely unacceptable. That is me. Abortions are going to happen and those cannot be stopped, but the health of the mother is paramount and the health of the child is also important, but a mother can have more children The life of the unborn child is not more important than the life of the mother.

Expand full comment

"Everything is not black and white".... the original compromise.

We are not talking about colors or shades of colors. We are talking about good and bad and yes that is binary. Something is either good or it is not. There are no points for "somewhat good".

Abortion is not about the "control of women" and it's not about patriarchy. It is about the destruction of life. As it is about human life, it's called murder, and yes, that is black and white.

I won't even go into the poverty of character that it takes to say seriously that "a mother can have more children....." Talk about misogyny.... a woman is a baby factory? That's your stance?

As for your last statement, It is utterly reprehensible that you would assume the authority to weigh the policy value of one life over another. That is evil and yes, it is black and white.

Thanks for everything you do and say. You're one of my favorites in this day and age of insanity and misinformation. Thought I should let you know that. Extremist religion in the vein of what you grew up in is the bane of the American experiment. It takes fabulous determination and bravery to stand against it and the entire tribe. You are doing the right thing. Thanks. <3

Frank, I attended (bizarrely) Fellowship Baptist Church in Willow Spring, NC for a short time after I moved to Raleigh.

Oh my living God. They thought they were going to convert me.

It’s nothing but a cult. Pastor J. had a church Twitter account. He actually said parishioners must think of themselves as SLAVES. Not servants of God, but slaves. He ended up deleting those evil tweets and made on last cryptic comment: “Don’t shoot the messenger.”

I wish I had screenshots to prove this, but I’m pretty sure you might find it believable. No, you damned straight I don’t want to be a servant of any god, or a slave to these despicable people.

I’m aware now that Christians like me have been groomed for just this moment.

Never, ever refer to yourself as a “servant.” Even to God.

Thank you for this clarion call. I was once a reformed evangelical. I do not know how I became enlightened like you are, but I did. Keep up this important work.

It also has to be said that no candidate has endorsed project 2025. Trump has specifically said he’s not on board.

I don't mean to shock you, but it is very possible that Donald Trump is lying about this.

Expand full comment

Trump has history of telling lies.

and that has been clearly shown in some media. No shock for me Frank. Not a lot of truth comes out of his mouth other than dribble that totally exposes who he is to himself, and how he wants to be seen. And this is me talkn from the ends of the earth almost....and loving waking up to Harris/Walz ticket knowing tRump may not have the keys to the owrld anymore. He is an international probalem............and I serious struggle with anyone ...of faith or not that supports that poor excuse for a human.

You believe anything Trump says?? Oh my God. Please open your eyes and ears. The man lies every single day and when fact checked (not routinely done but should be) —-he is always caught. Furthermore, regarding Project 2025– his name is on 300 pages of the document and many of the people involved were former WH staff and currently committed to his reelection. And if you will google it, you can easily find videos with architects of the plan who have clearly stated Trump knows all about project 2025 and supports it privately. He is intentionally not supporting it publicly because of its unpopularity.

Thank you, Frank. I am a huge fan and try to listen to at least one thing you are talking about every few days. Having done a vast amount of research on this and feeling like I was some sort of conspiracy theorist who was finding patterns in chaos, it is comforting to hear you put the missing pieces together for me. Please keep spreading your message. There are so many of us feeling less alone now. I’m behind you!

Where have you been? Harris is running for president and if anyone is suffering from serious memory issues —- it’s Trump. Have you not heard his bizarre rants and nonsensical monologues? Examples are how often he mentions Hannibal Lecter of silence of the lambs (as those he was a real person!) OR his debate about shark attacks and boat electrocution and which method of death would be worse. Give me a break. He has also had up to 30 seconds of blank stares and no speaking at rallies. He can’t recall names and confuses well known Democrats with Republicans. Listen to some real news for a change. Try PBS and NPR!
