If anyone would have suggested to me when I was half my present age (I am now in my early 70s) that American society in general, and its politics more in particular would devolve to its current level point of circus-like ridiculousness, beyond parody, I would have called them absolutely crazy, out of their minds. But, alas, here we are. We used to make jokes about the "nerds" taking over (I wish they had), but instead it seems like the class clowns, bullies, and bozos have taken over.

I agree. 20 years ago (I'm also in my early 70s) I thought we were making social progress and moving forward with democracy and human rights.

Now I think it's going to be another 50-100 years after all the damage the crazed Theocrats have done.

The bizarre thing is that you can be a Theocrat today (of any persuasion) and it has nothing to do with religion. It's just political.

The Gov. of Nevada is a monster because not only did she kill her dog she keeps trying to justify the act as her ability to make tough decisions. What?!

The governor rationalized her actions by stating that these are the type of decisions made on farms. Please. People who have hunting dogs know they need to be trained. German Pointers have a lot of energy and a high prey drive. The only reason Noem killed her puppy is because she is a violent person. The puppy was just being the type of dog that people have bred her to be.

Thank you Frank for sharing this. Having lost my precious dog to old age a few months ago, a devastating loss for me, I was horrified to hear this when it came out. She is a monster. Evil and cold hearted , to think she has children. All she had to do was to allow someone else who loved animals to adopt it.

I could never kill a dog unless it was attacking me or others were endangered. Even then, I'd just do everything I could to get away. Sometimes, cops kill vicious dogs when executing a warrant. I understand that.

But to premeditate a killing without having another humane option that could put it down painfully is without cause.

This is just part of Trump's playlist - after all, he's the only president who NEVER had a dog. What's wrong with them?

Omigosh she might be one of those beings whom the Dalai Lama spoke of as " a less than fully developed human.,' referring to those who lack all empathy, "the sociopaaths.. Even Donald T***p, one of the few presidents who never had a dog or animal companion in the White House would recognize that this is not a good look for a politician-- to be that out of touch with the way people feel about their animal companions if nothing else. I believe her "goose is cooked, " so to speak. As for the wolf killer, at least he is not into political leadership, as far as I know. But anything is possible, apparently. I heard something about Joe Biden's dog biting the Secret Service a number of times. This animal was sent away to Pennsylvania or somewhere?

She's beyond terrible on the human being scale.

But the thing that should terrify all of us is that the people of South Nowhere (I mean South Dakota) voted her into office.

She'll crash and burn at some point, but all those voters will still be there.

A few years ago a so-called "pastor" at the giant First Baptist No White People Church in our town shot his neighbor's dog for barking.

He was arrested. Spent the night in jail.

And then the response was for him to have counseling ("counseling") . . . and he's still on staff at the giant First Baptist No White People Church in our town.

Oops. I meant to type "No Non-White People" both times. Or possibly here in central Texas "No Colored People."

Anyhow, the message is the same.
