Nailed it. I was there for it and was so shocked when a friend informed me that AIDs patients were going to burn in hell. Then I was shunned by my Baptist friends because we differed on an issue of dogma! I also got a tongue lashing from my liberal friends for mentioning the Bible or God. My son’s debate league (tied to the Heritage Foundation) gave me the cold shoulder and shocked me by sending me these weird political emails, denying science and talking about bombing Iran and NO discussion was allowed on any of these issues. It was all or nothing. They indicated I didn’t know what I was talking about (I’m a highly educated woman but that didn’t matter) and it was morally wrong to consider any points of disagreement with whomever was feeding their narrative.
Wow, Frank. So powerful. Your words are absolutely on point. I’m deeply convicted that while we elect individuals to represent us, the responsibility doesn’t start or end with them.
Bottom line:
I alone am responsible for embracing and acting on what you’ve said. I must be the one to cross bridges, extend a hand of friendship, hold my tongue, and love my neighbor. If this spirit of neighborliness doesn’t begin with me—then who?
It takes humility and a sincere desire to help heal our country.
I see both in you. You’re genuine and dedicated—and I want to be, too.
Thank you for taking the risk to share this truth.
You are not wrong. This is very powerful, very moving. But what concerns me most is how easy this could have all been avoided had our elected leaders chose to stop it. They had many opportunities over the past several years, the most recent was just yesterday. Our democractic systems have failed us. All three branches are corrupt. Each is convinced they are beholden to a monster they willingly created.
Frank, it has forever been thus. Whether it be coal mines or nuclear power plants. Disease from rats or bats. Death by a stone to the head or fat in the arteries. What's your point.? "We brought this on ourselves"?. That is certainly debatable. As I'm certain you are aware we are all living in this time, place and circumstance known as "Kali Yuga" The Age of Quarrel and Hypocrisy. "Kali Yuga, is characterized by a decline in morality, spirituality, and overall well-being. Symptoms include a decrease in religious principles, truthfulness, cleanliness, tolerance, mercy, and lifespan. Material wealth becomes the primary measure of status, and justice is often based on power rather than righteousness" Frank you do a noble service showing us the sweet and sour fruits upon the tree however without knowledge of the roots we are lost and as you have pointed out :"we reap what we sow". The American Empire is over just like all the empires which came before. The righteous should head for the hills. Thank you, Mr. Schaeffer.
It's interesting in the context of Ireland. Anyone who voices an opinion about immigration are called racists too but many of the immigrants, whilst Muslim would probably been more religiously affiliated to Unionist protestants in their shared cultural beliefs then lapsed liberal Catholics. Yet in the North of Ireland, Unionist paramilitaries are ramping up the hateful rhetoric and burning them out of businesses and homes. Im utterly confused. I see Climate immigration as such an irony, in that they are not the cause of the climate changes but when seeking refuge in countries that are causing it, are treated so poorly.
In high school, I wrote a term paper about your father. During my time at Lancaster Christian High School (class of 1992), your father's words shaped my outlook on life. Thank you for your devotion to spreading the love of people.
The common human ground is grounded in our constitution. It is living as a free person having both rights and responsibilities. It may not mean being my brothers and sisters keeper. But it does mean standing up for their rights and respecting their freedoms. Being free means having the right to determines one’s beliefs, career, relationships and actions. It includes freedom of speech, religion and association, ensuring individuals are not forced into a pre determined path.
Thank you Frank! Nobody tells the truth the way you do. I have to face my own culpability. Democrats think they’re so smart and superior. Well we’re NOT.
Yep - as a moderate, I’m told it’s just because I’m wishy washy and don’t really believe in anything strongly enough.
Thank you for your messages. I’m finally listening to Gareth Gore’s book, and learning that the Netflix series I had to stop watching for a while a few years back (disturbing), is connected. Thank you for speaking out! It’s a goidvreminder when respect isn’t returned to not sink to their level.
I agree. I've been on the receiving end of the right and the left. I struggle, however, because some things really do deserve to be denounced. The prophet Jeremiah did speak up, and when he decided to remain quiet, it would just come out all the more (Jeremiah 20:9).
Anyway, it is some 40 or 50 years of neglect in the making, and the blame is shared largely equally between both parties.
Brother Frank, this reads like Ecclesiastes for the algorithm age—all is vanity, and every comment section a war zone.
You nailed it: we didn’t get Trump by accident. We conjured him. Summoned him like a rage demon through a thousand rage-clicks and perfectly polarized posts. The Oracle of Facebook didn’t just predict our fall—it monetized it.
We were all too busy moralizing our mirror images to notice the humanity we left behind. You’re right: the neighbor you despise also has a bad knee and a dog that’s afraid of thunder. Maybe that’s where we start.
Otherwise? Yep. It’s Trumps all the way down. One Cheeto Caligula begets the next. The descent of man, powered by broadband.
Thank you for this reckoning. Feels like a sermon from a recovering prophet.
Once again, Frank takes a minority on the left and smears all anti-Trumpers as crazy. Of course, he wraps it in a miasma of anti-Trump sentiment, the better to say these things about what he calls “the left.” Implied in his screed against the expansion of rights to cover all is is his blame of “the Left” as the reason we have Trump today. He comes close to saying we shouldn’t have pushed for equal rights because the reaction of the violent & narrow-minded results in a backlash. By this “logic,” we wouldn’t have had a Declaration of Independence because is caused a violent reaction among “conservative” Englishmen. Better to have kept our mouths shut in the 1770s. Sometimes I wonder whose side Frank is really on.

Oh, that analogy of the political ideologies to Romeo and Juliet. Wow. 100%.

No, being righteous means you do not head for the hills.
Time to Head for the Hills (Luke 21:20-28)

Valid points
'Find common human ground' - wonderful. Thank you.
