Thanks for your article. I've always thought of them as the truly needy/greedy.

Thank you, Frank, you are so “on point”. The wealthy are definitely the gods of this world, particularly in what gets the attention of the news media. Your point is confirmed in how much the news media headlines focused on the plight of the OceanGate Titan submersible tragedy and minimized reporting about the tragedy of the boat carrying 750 migrants that capsized in the Mediterranean. The migrants’ tragedy never made headline news. I had to search the Internet to learn of the plight of these innocent families desperately seeking refuge from poverty and political turbulence. Doesn’t the worst migrant catastrophe in recent Mediterranean history deserve just as much news coverage and compassion as the plight of the rich and famous?

And how about the essence of life, clean water, for Indigenous People who had their lands stolen by illegal immigrants primarily from Europe, their peoples killed, their peoples herded and transplanted to barren lands.

The 2011 SCOTUS Citizens United vs. FEC decision seems to me open the floodgates for the wealthy to have an inordinate influence in politics.

I am old enough to remember the 50s when under President Eisenhower, the top marginal tax rate was 92%. But the economy was strong because people had good paying jobs, Unions were strong (possibly too powerful), and the government build roads, bridges, the Interstate highway system was begun, airports. The government invested in infrastructure. The CEO to emp[loyee pay ratio was 20 to one, not 398 to one.
