As a devoted follower of Jesus, I never connected with Pat Robertson's teaching and preaching. I have come to recognize that many Christians who are fans of high-profile Christian televangelists are actually practicing idolatry. The very first command God said, "You shall have no other gods before me." It is frightening that so many Christians have been deceived by Satan to follow shallow men rather than the true and living God, the creator of humankind.

I agree with everything you said, Frank. I'm one of your long-time followers on Facebook, and I'm delighted to support you here. I'm familiar with some of your Dad's books, but I never could get through one of them. In fact, I have one on my shelf: "The God Who is There." I'm a strong Christian who believes in the teachings of Jesus. I am appalled at the lack of Jesus in people like Pat Robertson, Jerry Falwell, Franklin Graham, and Trump. Please keep sending us your perspective. It's valuable. I'm so happy to subscribe!

“To the extent that the Republican Party benefited from the pro-life movement, my efforts and those of my father contributed to making the Republican congressional majorities of the 1980s and 1990s possible. We also indirectly helped make the election of Reagan, Bush Sr., and Bush Jr. possible.”

A REALLY BAD THING, getting these 3 elected. Thanks a lot.

To be fair, he’s openly admitted it, and apologized for it

I listen to your commentary with interest, because, like you, I was raised in a evangelical household. I was raised on the mission field and didn’t come to the states till I was 13.

My brothers and I have long been uncomfortable with American Christianity. The power of the faith that we saw at work in a war-torn Korea was a far cry from what we saw in the US.

Every one of us recoiled in disgust against the church. It took us a while to figure out that we shouldn’t “throw the baby out with the bathwater“. We’ve kept our faith, but only by the grace of God.

The fact that evangelical Christians have become vocal “haters” and went so far astray as to support Trump has been one of the most mortifying realities of my life. I’m ashamed to call my self a Christian, almost. They’ve given our faith a black eye and a bad name.

I feel like people who profited off the religious abuse of targeted populations don't get to just flip ally all of a sudden and profit off performed repentance. Get down off your gilded cross and use that blood money to make whole the people you almost killed. Venmo @mikesteraz Cash App $mikeshipley

Pro life is nothing of the sort. Pro life is forced birth and as such is anti-human, anti-woman, anti-child, and anti-family. It is draconian patriarchy wrapped in deluded sanctimony. You did a lot of damage and have caused a lot of pain.

Hear, hear! Hammer, meet the head of the nail. I watched in real time all that you wrote about in this piece.

Pot meet kettle. Pretty self assured people doing terrible things in the name of God.

Thought we'd hear from you today! A bad and creepy man. My cousin Gary brought Robertson's daughter home once when I was there. I remember the awe and envy everyone felt about Robertson, and the fact that his daughter was wearing court shoes (pumps), far more preppy than any one else I'd ever met.

Why would you bashed this guy now? Everybody new who he was. Little Ole ladies and the poor were blessed. God knows our hearts. He's in control. That's why He says to keep our eyes on Jesus not man. Let it go. Severe Christ not man.

Because the truth needs to be told by those who are in a position to know what it is. I’m glad if a little old ladies were blessed, but if they were blessed, it was because they had a sweeter spirit than Pat Robertson did. They were deceived and many of them were financially fleeced.

When I attended Oral Roberts University 50 years ago, I drew the assignment of interviewing Pat Robertson. He invited me to a lecture he was giving to one of the TV broadcast classes. During Q and A, I asked him about broadcasting syndicated Star Trek episodes on his Dallas based CBN network. I brought up that the show was viewed as promoting humanistic values, and wondered about audience response. “There was a young man who watched only Star Trek, and after an episode he went to the fridge to get a beer. When he came back, the 700 Club was on, and before he could change the channel, he was saved.”

I grew up with fanatics of both Robertson and Dobson, and will likely spend the remainder of my life working to heal those wounds in myself and certainly will inevitably spend it helping out other survivors to heal. I hope your guilt remains for all your days, drowning you in those sorrows. This absolves you of nothing and is too little ENTIRELY too late.

Come on, please. Did you ever hear of Christian forgiveness? On the cross Jesus Christ said "Forgive them for they know not what they do." If Christ advocated forgiveness 'seventy times seven" why hang on to bitterness and blame.? Is blame useful? Perhaps you are hurting yourself, not the object of your unforgiving speech. I am not surprised that you have festering wounds.
