Sorry Frank…I’m not going to pray for the success of Tump’s fascist administration. I’m a proud progressive who doesn’t believe in “drill baby drill” or any of the goons Trump has nominated for his cabinet. This evil clown shouldn’t be anywhere near the White House.
Frank, you keep giving Christianity credit for creating an atmosphere of intellectual freedom & individual freedoms that it not only doesn’t deserve but is the complete opposite historically. And bizarre. You are glad you live in”Christendom” instead of Saudi Arabia. But the country & culture you live in is a creation of the Enlightenment which was the flowering of a long & often bloody battle with the authoritarianism of religion, in our case, Christianity. To continue to give credit to Christianity for our world is ahistorical and completely wrong.
UPDATE: I’m not an idiot. Frank, I’m frustrated with people too, but name calling doesn’t help. Ya know? It drives people away. Even the ones that feel your frustration.
AN OPEN LETTER TO THE TRUMP VOTERS I’M FORCED TO SEE THIS CHRISTMAS
“The holidays are a time for love, generosity, and reflection—a season to celebrate the values that should unite us: compassion, hope, and “peace on earth, goodwill to men.” Yet here we are, forced to share a table, pretending that your vote foR Trump—a man who thrives on division and destruction—is in any way defensible. Let’s not sugarcoat it: this wasn’t about policy or pocketbooks. Supporting Trump and today’s GOP is a complete moral collapse. It’s a cheer for cruelty, a nod to deception, and a full-throated embrace of authoritarianism.” READ MORE… https://substack.com/@patricemersault/note/c-81354637
Although I can't say that I pray for Trump's success, as I don't wish to see this country, with all its potential for greatness, to become an authoritarian state and a corporatocracy. But I do pray for Trump to come to his senses, to do no harm, to be thwarted where it would indeed do harm. I don't like how it feels to hate. If I hate him, it does absolutely nothing to him, but it does hurt me. So, I try to imagine him (and Musk, and the lot of them) as toddlers. Surely they were as lovable as most toddlers are. And in my heart I embrace them and say, "I forgive you." Not for them, but for me. Because I don't like the person I was becoming in the weeks following the election.
Frank, I really enjoy your common sense, truth-sharing posts. But, you were so emotionally disregulated this time that your message did not come across in the way I am sure you intended.
Not to succeed in their proclaimed purpose but to hold them accountable to our nation as a whole and the Constitution on which it was founded.
I have love for my fellow citizens, but even Christ held anger for power-over. I see the part the Dems have played, by not having the balls to act for what they stand for, letting what really matters ride.
I pray for us all. That we make it through with God's help and guidance.
Wow! Strong talk Frank. I do agree that we should “pray” for good things from Trump -not much we can do about his future presidency right now-just hoping he does not get mired in retribution when there are so many real problems to solve.

Nope. I will not pray for Trump to succeed any more than I would have prayed for Hitler to succeed.
Defeating trumpism and tyranny is my fervent prayer.

I believe you have stated you’re an atheist, as I am. So who do you pray to? What does prayer mean to you?

Thank you, Angie, for sharing this song. Moving to me. While everyone else is bickering and hating on each other. WTHeck?! Best wishes to you.
Sorry Frank I am not praying for an US administration that is planning horrible things for Noth-America.
We will be with our backs against the wall with the resolution of not going to pray and supporting people who want to destroy and disrupt.

Merry Christmas, Frank, and pray we all will.
Please give our love to Genie, your kids, grandkids, as well as the rest of your extended families.
