I have a new book coming out called The Gospel of Zip. But with a difference—I’m giving it away for free on YouTube.
In one section of the book, I write about the little notes my wife leaves me, and how I answer her by sticking them up in the kitchen. A couple of months ago, she wrote:
Why are you reading your new book out loud, recording it, and giving it away for free online?
I wrote back:
I feel sorry for the younger people who think things are so bad that there’s no point marrying and having a family. They don’t know enough history to have a sense of proportion. The human race has always been messed up. Environmental doom, careerism, war—all of that is normal. Black Death, anyone?
I’m hoping some younger people will listen to my book, because no one reads anymore. Besides, I’m sick of greed. Presidential bitcoins, anyone? Call giving away my book a statement. We have enough money because you saved, and we have Medicare and Social Security. Why would we need more? So I’m just giving back.
That’s the little note I left for her, which sort of explains why I’m putting The Gospel of Zip online on YouTube, on all my channels, for free. I just hope you’ll listen to it. And if you get sick of my face, you don’t need to watch—just listen instead. Also, please share it with other people!
